Resolving Contested Draft Picks

We resolve in order of the count of teams selecting a player - starting with the ones picked most often.

Steven Strasburg and Jason Heyward – were selected by 13 Teams

When there are 2 or more players in a grouping, we resolve in descending order of salary.  Both players have salary of 100.  So we then go in order of position, using baseball scoring conventions (all OF considered as "7", any DH-only will be considered as "8")

Steven Strasburg (Salary: 100, Position: P)

At the start, no players are on any teams, so we get down immediately to tiebreaker #5 - player ranking.  Three teams ranked him #1, and of those teams, Tammany Hall gets him based on random draw.

Jason Heyward (100, OF)

Six teams ranked Heyward #1.  By random draw, he is awarded to Menomonie

Pedro Alvarez was picked by 11 teams.

Via the first tiebreaker, Tammany Hall and Menomonie are out of the running.  From the remaining teams, Dunder Mifflin has him ranked highest, so they get him.

Buster Posey selected by 10 teams.

California gets him with a #1 ranking.

Two players selected by 9 teams.

First, Alcides Escobar (Salary 147)

Goes to Baldwin based on highest ranking.

Madison Bumgarner (100)

Detroit had him ranked highest.

Six guys picked by 8 teams.

Brian Matusz (Salary 200)

Among teams with full salary cap left, Munich has the highest rank for him.

To Astoria (draft rank)

Justin Smoak (100, 1B)

On draft rank, goes to Ralston

Scott Sizemore (100, 2B)

All the teams with a player already are out on the first tiebreaker, Mount Rushmore gets him on highest draft rank of the other three.

If the position is the same, we go in alphabetical order....

Kansas is the only team with their full salary cap remaining.

To Hampton, VA based on cap room left.
